Sir Henry Ralph Vane 4th Bt
(1830-1909)

Henry inherited the estate at the age of 12 in 1842, after his father Francis' early death. In 1870 he married Margaret Gladstone a cousin of the famous Liberal Prime Minister. She was interested in the Arts and Crafts movement and is responsible for much of the character of the house that we see today. Henry died in 1909 without children and his widow died in 1916.
