Henry Vane Fletcher
(1699-1761)

Henry Vane Fletcher, like his Uncle Sir Henry Fletcher 3rd Bart, never married. He was very interested in the estate and carried out many improvements to the garden, grounds and the Park. By 1759 he had planted 51,620 trees and he also created the Walled Garden and Middle Pond, and in 1745 the Cupid Room.  That same year the house was occupied by the Scots during the invasion of England under Bonnie Prince Charlie.
